Risk Assessments

Note: According to Universal Orlando's Online Sharing Policy, I as a Team Member cannot share "...Any non-public, confidential proprietary information, such as trade secrets, inventions, strategies, development of attractions, shows and/or characters, financial information, products, pricing, know-how and technology..." including "...video or photographs of such non-public, confidential segments of our business taken behind the scenes." (Univeral Orlando Resort Team Member Handbook, page 26). I could not share any actual copies of projects from my internship. However, I have included brief descriptions and "outlines" to show a glimpse of what I worked on as an intern.

I was tasked to attend weekly Risk Assessments at Universal's Millshop and write instructional SOP's. New hire technicians would use these guides to learn how to use specialized pieces of equipment.

Each machine would have the following subpoints in the guide: Overview, PPE, Material Inspection, Blade Installation (if applicable), and Operations. By attending Risk Assessments, contacting manufacturers, and taking pictures, I was able to cover all of these points. The Mill Shop SOP was created in Word.

Below is the list of machines I wrote SOP's for:

  • Delta 20 Vertical Band Saw

  • Jet Model JBG-10A Bench Grinder

  • Ridgid MS255SR Chop Saw

  • HDG 20  HDT International A2 20 Disc Grinder

  • General International 75 – 260m1 Drill Press

  • Delta 60–056 Edge Sander

  • Grizzly Industrial Model G9953ZXF 16” Z Series Jointer

  • Delta DL 40 Lathe

  • Lobo Machinery CM-0021 Mortiser

  • Grizzly Industrial M G1071 Oscillating Spindle sander

  • Northwood NW-660 Planer

  • Powermatic RB -37 Sander

  • Martin T 60 classic Sliding Table Saw

  • Delta 62-185 Small Planer

  • Delta 43-375 Small Shaper

  • General International 350R Table Saw

  • Kalamazoo Industries Inc. 6” Belt Vertical Sander

  • Blum Minipress P Boring Machine

  • Williams & Hussey 21081 Molder

In addition to the Mill Shop SOP, I was tasked with creating a Risk Assessment Action Item tracking sheet. This would allow multiple parties to see after the Risk Assessment what action item needed to be completed. It also automatically shows the number of days that have elapsed since the action item was inserted (with a corresponding color, so lower numbers would turn yellow while days after 100 would turn red) and if it was completed.

The tracking sheet was completed created by me in Excel.
